Carrion Character Guide

Type: Abomination

Threat: Severe

What the Carrion Is

A horrifying mass of bodies made into one creature — the plague's answer to the question of what happens to a battlefield nobody buried. The Carrion is not a duel, it is a hazard with health: wide slam attacks, bodies that pull at your movement, and a health bar built to outlast a nervous player's Ferro Flask. Community consensus since launch places it among the most dangerous non-boss encounters in the game.

How to Fight It

Bring fire and patience. The flamethrower's burn ticks do steady work on a target this large, and Stasis buys back the arena control that the Carrion's bulk takes away. Fight it in the biggest space you can find — its slam attacks are survivable in the open and catastrophic in a corner. Posture breaks do happen, but treat the critical as a bonus, not the plan: the plan is chip, reposition, repeat.

Do not stand in the pull. The Carrion's drag into the body mass is the single fastest way to lose an unspent Catalyst stockpile in the regular game.

What It Teaches

The Carrion is a preview of boss-scale threats: arena awareness, consumable discipline and the humility to disengage. If a Carrion is guarding a path, the game is suggesting you upgrade your weapon, stock flasks and come back with a plan.
