What the Risen Lancer Is

Cavalry shock troops transformed into something the stable never shipped with. Lancers fight at the end of a long reach — couched charges, wide sweeps and a habit of repositioning after every attack so your combo keeps whiffing air. They are among the most mobile regular enemies in the game and the clearest argument for bringing a firearm.

How to Fight Them

Break the orbit. A Lancer that cannot circle cannot charge; use walls, doorways and lantern posts to shorten its runway, then punish the turn-around after a charge sails past. A pistol shot during the approach — airborne if you have the jump timing for Windhover-style hits — cancels the charge outright more often than not. In melee, respect the sweep: it tracks further than it looks, and parrying the tip of the arc is a different timing than parrying the shaft.

After a missed charge, the Lancer needs a full second to wheel around. That is your biggest damage window of the whole fight — spend it on posture, not panic.

Where You Meet Them

Open ground. Lancers appear where the campaign gives them room to ride — fields, boulevards, courtyard arenas — and their presence is the game telling you to check your loadout before committing to the space.
